It doesn’t get any better than this! This Idyllic Lakeland Cottage enjoys a very rural aspect with wonderful panoramic views, and set in ¾ acre of cottage garden.

This holiday home is wonderfully situated to discover the Lake District. Summerhill Cottage dates back to the 17th-century and has amazing character features around every corner. Standing detached, the property enjoys beamed ceilings, oak wooden floors, low doorways and delightful features that are dotted throughout. A large inglenook fireplace to the main, spacious living room adds an interesting mix of contemporary design, whilst the doors open out onto a patio area offering stunning views of the surrounding area towards the Lakeland Fells.

From the doorway you can wonder for miles along local country lanes or well trodden footpaths, mostly leading to a local pub, plan carefully to achieve that! The local area has numerous cycle routes for both mountain and roads bikes. For sightseers beyond the beautiful hills, mountains, forests  and lakes, the delightful villages of Ambleside, Hawkshead, Sawrey (Beatrix Potters Home) are all 30 minutes away.

The cottage is full of charm and atmosphere, with cosy rooms and comfortable furnishings, and an original cast-iron range graces the farmhouse kitchen, which leads into the entrance/breakfast room. The local area gives access to splendid walks, and one that must be experienced includes wonderful views of Lake Windermere.  Alternatively, a 20-minute drive leads into the heart of the bustling towns of both Windermere and Kendal, where many of the local attractions can be enjoyed together with a range of Supermarkets and transport links. Kendal also offers the Lakeland Climbing Centre and the Brewery Arts Centre.  Summerhill Cottage makes a superb central base for exploring the Lake District, perfect for outdoor enthusiasts and nature lovers. The Masons Arms at Strawberry Bank and The Hare and Hounds at Bowland Bridge are both famous Lakeland gourmet Pubs and are only 1 mile away with a local friendly Farm shop.

A short drive away you can enjoy either the Brown Cow at Winster or The renowned Punch Bowl at Crosthwaite. The area has horse riding facilities and even boasts a famous race course at Cartmel with Internationally acclaimed L’Enclume Michelin star restaurant.  The Victorian spa resort of Grange over Sands and Arnside are great day trips to the seaside.

If you are a sailor? why not hire a boat on Windermere? or maybe go on the Victorian Steamer on Coniston water. Or if you are into your history why not visit one of the local country houses? Within a short drive you can visit the further attractions of Holker Hall and Levens Hall or the Medieval Sizergh Castle and Barn.

Three steps to the entrance. Spacious Dining room with tiled underfloor heating. Living room with wood-burning stove in inglenook fireplace. Adjacent bathroom with double Jacuzzi bath and toilet.  Farmhouse kitchen with original ornamental cast-iron range, butler sink and slate tiled floor.
